Structured, Transitional and Unstructured Civil Societies: An Institutional Approach

This paper seeks to introduce an alternative conceptual taxonomy of civil society as input Austrian law and economics neo-institutional economics. The framework the develops three categories: unstructured, transitional, structured societies. categorization was, in part, inspired by Parsons’ (1966, p. 33) contribution functional sociology: «Society is intelligent structure, rationally integrate its com-plex parts into a coherent whole (...) A social system consists plurality agents interacting with each other situation which has at least physical or environmental aspect, moti-vated tendency towards “optimization satisfaction” whose interactions their own circumstances, are defined influenced culturally shared symbols.»
 However, our proposal does not focus on associative «set» aggregates (Parsons, 1968).1 In contrast, following previous academic (Mendez, 2013), individuality assumed. differs from approach (1978), where become secondary receivers process so-cialization. addition, it been assumed this that permanent display individualism (economic subjectivism) occurs through interaction (Garcia-Guadilla et al., 1997). These individuals acting «creative entrepreneurial agents» (Kirzner, 1978a) help maintain asso-ciative cohesion productive entrepreneurship (Baumol, 1990).
